Division for Feline Medicine of SiSAVA
The Division for Feline Medicine was established on 23 November 2023 as part of the Slovenian Small Animal Veterinary Association (SiSAVA).
The Division for Feline Medicine was established at the initiative of the Medicat Committee, the national partner of the iCatCare Veterinary Society ISFM Society (formerly ISFM – International Society for Feline Medicine), and upon the proposal of founding members Vanja Knez, DVM, and David Černec, DVM.
The establishment of the division was supported by 93% of votes cast by members at the regular annual assembly of SiSAVA. The division operates in accordance with the tasks and objectives of the Slovenian Small Animal Veterinary Association. It is governed by a general assembly of its members, which serves as its highest decision-making body. The current president of the division is David Černec, DVM, who was confirmed at the meeting of the SiSAVA Executive Committee on 14 April 2024.

Mission and Activities
The goals of the Division for Feline Medicine include promoting veterinary education on feline health, encouraging and disseminating knowledge about responsible cat ownership, sharing information on modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of feline diseases, and supporting best practices in feline care. To pursue these shared interests, the division collaborates with the international veterinary organization iCatCare Veterinary Society (formerly ISFM) through Medicat, which holds a national partnership agreement with them.

Membership is free
Any member of SiSAVA can join the Division for Feline Medicine by completing the SiSAVA membership form. Membership in the division is free of charge. Members will be regularly informed about the division’s activities, annual assembly, educational events in the field of feline medicine, and other initiatives within the division. Please complete the SiSAVA membership form (if you are not already a member of SiSAVA, you must first become one) and indicate your wish to join the Division for Feline Medicine by selecting the option “I also wish to join the SiSAVA Division for Feline Medicine (no membership fee).” With the support, ideas, and knowledge of all our members, we will strive to achieve the highest standards in feline veterinary practice. The division operates in accordance with the Rules of Operation of the Division for Feline Medicine, adopted on 14 April 2024 by the SiSAVA Executive Committee.
